Diana Park of Tochi Design

Diana is a graphic designer and jewelry artist based in Chicago. Diana specializes in torch-fired copper enamel jewelry, drawing inspiration from nature and her collection of vintage fabrics. She was drawn to torch enameling due to its spontaneous nature––no two pieces are the same, and the unpredictable, organic process allows for creative freedom and pleasant surprises. Each piece is lovingly hand-crafted by sawing copper sheets and fusing multiple layers of glass enamel to metal using a hand torch. Many of the jewelry pieces from Tochi Design are made with recycled materials, including recycled copper and upholstery leather.

Diana finds tranquility in this slow-paced process which requires patience and an appreciation for spontaneous results. Torch enameling pairs best with a “go with the flow” attitude; oftentimes, the end result is not quite what you had anticipated, but rather morphs into something more interesting. Creating jewelry is a welcome reprieve from a hectic city lifestyle, encouraging her to slow down her process while satisfying her desire to create pieces that evoke joy and inspire spontaneity in the wearer.

When she is not getting lost in the glow of torch flames, Diana spends her time reading, practicing yoga, expanding her graphic design skills, and strolling the boulevards of her neighborhood, Logan Square.
